Check-in Activity 2.1

Answer these: 1. If your choice of applying protective measures is limited, which five specific elements would you prioritize? Explain. 

Personal protective measures

PPE is equipment that will protect individuals against health or safety risks on the job. The purpose is to reduce the exposure to hazards and to reduce the disasters or risks to acceptable levels. 

Emergency preparedness

Being prepared will reduce the worries, anxieties, and losses that follow disasters. People may also minimize the effect of disasters (e.g., flood proofing, raising a house or moving a home away from damage, and securing objects that may shake loose in an earthquake) and even fully escape risk. 

Protective measures for the community

Chronic stress associated with living in unsafe communities can accelerate aging and damage health. Unsafe communities can cause anxiety, depression, and stress, and a lot more. Fear of violence because of disasters or risks can keep people indoors, away from neighbors, exercise, and healthy food. 

Measures for securing power source

Disasters can have adverse effect on human lives. The importance of access to electricity and safe water cannot be over-emphasized in the aftermath of a disaster. Alternative to electricity and water supplies for human use during and after a disaster should be prepared.

Measures to further improve safety

Improving safety performance and preventing further accidents is a challenge, but it’s one that’s made much easier when individuals lend a hand to further prevent more injuries and risks. 2. Name three places of exposure and disaster risk to flooding hazards in your locality. Are you located in any of these places? a. Tuguegarao b. Lucena c. Manila Thankfully, I’m not located to any of these places. Cavite also experiences flooding but not to extent of what other people from other city experiences.
